Behind the Code: How a 19-Year-Old Music Producer Builds Zero-Cost AI Systems

Welcome to HackerNoon’s Meet the Writer Interview series, where we learn a bit more about the contributors that have written some of our favorite stories.

So let’s start! Tell us a bit about yourself. For example, name, profession, and personal interests.

I’m Kxrn (Karan Gupta), a 19-year-old independent music producer, software engineer, and founder based in New Delhi, India. I operate under the philosophy of "Bridging Code and Sound." By day, I build open-source tools like Win-Optimizer-Pro (Rust/Tauri) and local AI orchestrators like SwarmForge. By night, I produce and release independent indie/hip-hop music through my label, DuskyMoon Productions.

Interesting! What was your latest Hackernoon Top story about?

My latest story, "Building Zero-Cost Multi-Agent AI Orchestrators & Local Assistants," broke down how developers can build high-performance, asynchronous AI agent teams locally on aging hardware without burning thousands of dollars on cloud API credits. It detailed the core architecture behind SwarmForge, combining Python wrappers and Win32 background daemons.

Do you usually write on similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?

Yes! I focus heavily on systems-level performance optimization, local AI automation, and the intersection of software development and creative audio production. I love documenting how low-resource constraints push you to write cleaner, memory-safe code using Rust and C++.

Great! What is your usual writing routine like (if you have one?)

My writing happens immediately after solving a technical bottleneck. If I spend three days optimizing memory leaks in a background daemon or getting an app accepted into the Microsoft winget-pkgs registry, I open my editor right then. The best tech writing comes from raw, real-time debugging notes rather than abstract theory.

Being a writer in tech can be a challenge. It’s not often our main role, but an addition to another one. What is the biggest challenge you have when it comes to writing?

Balancing technical depth with accessibility. When you build multi-agent systems or low-level desktop debloaters, it’s easy to drown the reader in code snippets. The real art is explaining the architectural why before diving into the implementation how.

What is the next thing you hope to achieve in your career?

On the tech side, expanding Gupta Ventures' open-source ecosystem and launching Win-Optimizer-Pro globally on Product Hunt. On the creative side, growing DuskyMoon Productions into a powerhouse for genre-blending indie music and releasing our upcoming single "Roothi Radhe".

Wow, that’s admirable. Now, something more casual: What is your guilty pleasure of choice?

Spending 4 hours designing custom audio synthesis patches in FL Studio or endlessly benchmarking Windows RAM usage to save 30MB of idle memory!

Music production is both my second career and my creative escape. Beyond that, I love studying business models of independent record labels and exploring acoustic sound design.

A practical deep-dive into building autonomous PR and media outreach bots using Python and IMAP, and an architectural breakdown of building high-performance desktop apps with Tauri and Rust.

What’s your opinion on HackerNoon as a platform for writers?

HackerNoon is one of the few places left on the internet that genuinely respects developer authenticity. The community values real builders, raw engineering lessons, and honest benchmarks over corporate fluff.

Thanks for taking time to join our “Meet the writer” series. It was a pleasure. Do you have any closing words?

Don't let hardware or resource limits stop you from building ambitious projects. Constraints breed the most creative engineering.
