May 15, 2026 – Lina Romero – Why the EU AI Act?The EU AI Act is a security regulation that requires high-risk AI systems to maintain appropriate levels of accuracy, robustness, and security; and to technically allow for the automatic recording of events throughout their lifetime. The Act requires continuous risk management so that organisations can consistently demonstrate that their AI systems are behaving as intended. What the talk will coverThe EU AI Act classifies AI systems according to risk. Unacceptable-risk applications are banned outright. High-risk systems are subject to technical and governance requirements. The prohibited practices at the top of the risk hierarchy have been enforceable since February 2025, with fines running to €35 million or 7% of global annual turnover. Our talk will cut through the regulatory language and focus on what security and compliance teams actually need to understand. We’ll cover the Act’s technical requirements, the shadow AI problem, and what that means for any compliance program that relies on self-reporting to build its inventory. Finally we’ll go over what continuous, automated AI governance looks like in practice.Come and find usIf you are attending Infosecurity Europe, we want to meet you!
