Cutting through the noise of outdated repos to find the “Gold Standard” path to the CompTIA Security+, I built the ultimate resource index for the CompTIA Security+ exam preparation.

Yesterday, I was revisiting my old notes. I stumbled upon my Security+ journal.
Opening it felt like a jump-scare. It was a graveyard of broken links, 1,000-page PDFs I never finished, and notes from SY0–601 repositories that were already obsolete.
It reminded me of the absolute chaos I felt when I first started. I had no direction, no “source of truth,” and I was drowning in resource paralysis.
I realized then that the biggest hurdle to the Security+ isn’t the technical content, it’s the discovery phase. I decided to fix that.

So I spent my whole last week deconstructing every major GitHub repository, YouTube playlist, and simulation platform to create a Curated Resource Index. I didn’t want to build “just another repo”; I wanted to build a central place that connects you to the best resources in existence.
In the repository, I’ve laid out a 4-Phase Blueprint based on these four pillars:
Go through the 4 phases in order and you’ll be set for the exam!
Pro-Tip: I found that if you can consistently hit 70–80% on CertPreps simulations, you are ready for the real thing. Their labs are intentionally more difficult, serving as a high-pressure “stress test” for the actual exam environment.
A lot of effort went into building this, from auditing broken links, to outdated resources, and finally handpicking only the best resources.
If this index helps save you more than 4 hour of searching, I’d love your support:
If you’ve got any other good resources that are worthy of adding to the list, please let me know, I’ll add it!
Let’s ensure that the next gen does not have to struggle like we did!
Good luck with your exam!
