In the first timeline of November 2024 I collected 128 events (8.53 events/day) with a threat landscape dominated by malware with 27.3%, slightly up from 26.4% of the previous timeline. And once again ransomware ranks at place number two with 13.3% (it was 16.5%) and targeted attacks with 10.9% (it was 13.2%).
In terms of initial access, phishing emails were still the preferred weapon with 13.1% (vs. 18.5% in the previous timeline), ahead of the exploitation of publicly-facing app vulnerabilities with 7.7% and supply chain compromises (6.2%).
Cyber crime led the motivations chart with 70.3% (it was 65%), ahead of cyber espionage (9.4% down from 14.2% of the previous timeline), cyber warfare (3.1%, down from 6.7%) and hacktivism (1.6%)
Multiple organizations led the targeted sectors chart with 22.4% (up from 18.6%), ahead of individuals (11.2%) and governments (9%), which swapped their position.
Besides these trends, as always the timeline is rich of interesting events, such as mega breaches (now the corresponding piost is updated with the events occurred in 2024) and attacks against organizations in the fintech space, so my final suggestion does not change: browse the timeline for the details of the events collected in this fortnight.
