Summary
Title
Redefining Team Collaboration:
Harnessing LLM Agents for Next-Gen Software Engineering
Abstract
Software development is a collaborative process in which architects, developers, and testers design, implement, and maintain software systems. In this talk, "Redefining Team Collaboration: Harnessing LLM Agents for Next-Gen Software Engineering," we discuss our recent research outcomes on using large language model (LLM) agents to emulate development teams and enhance key software engineering tasks. In particular, we will cover how LLM can help in code generation, debugging, and operation. By emulating the roles and interactions of development teams, we show that LLM agents can benefit from decades of human knowledge in software engineering and achieve state-of-the-art results.
Speaker
Dr. Tse-Hsun (Peter) Chen leads the Software PErformance, Analysis, and Reliability (SPEAR) lab at Concordia University. His research focuses on improving the quality of large-scale software systems, focusing on log analysis and AIOps, software performance analysis, software testing, and mining software repositories. His research group collaborates extensively with companies such as Ericsson, Microsoft, and BlackBerry. The research tools developed by Dr. Chen and his students were integrated into industrial practice to ensure the quality of large-scale enterprise systems. Several graduated PhD/PostDoc from the SPEAR lab are now tenure-track assistant professors around the world (e.g., York University, University of Alberta, DePaul University, and IIT Gandhinagar). Dr. Chen publishes extensively in flagship venues such as ICSE, FSE, TSE, and TOSEM. He regularly serves as a program committee member in international conferences such as ICSE, FSE, ICSME, SANER, and MSR, and he is a regular reviewer for journals such as TSE, TOSEM, and EMSE. Dr. Chen obtained his BSc from the University of British Columbia and his MSc and PhD from Queen’s University. Besides his academic career, Dr. Chen also worked as a software performance engineer at BlackBerry for over four years. More information at: http://petertsehsun.github.io/.
