It’s advent season! Maybe this year I’ll finally finish an advent calendar. I started Advent of Code and I’m 1/1 on days complete so far. I don’t think I’ll do advent of cyber or anything else, though.

I don’t have a lot to talk about today, though. I am still waiting for hardware to be delivered, though I am excited that I have over 100TB of disks waiting to be installed. Data hoarding is a digital disease, and boy do I have it. I’m buying hard drives just so I can come up with reasons to fill them.

I haven’t deployed my new link shortener yet, but I did publish the code and you can see exactly how simple it is. It’s probably a little too simple, it doesn’t even keep the link mapping in memory it just does disk IO all the time lmao.

Another thing I thought could be cool is to add a CI component that parses the links in my posts and automatically swaps them out to shortened links before building. But I don’t really want to track all the clicks on my outgoing links, I think that’s kinda… gross.

I want to follow a similar model to make a single-user pastebin next - then I won’t feel so bad about all the disk IO.

Anyways, short post this week. I don’t want to delay just because I don’t feel like I have much to write about, I’m trying to rebuild the habits of writing and publishing, and that’s more important than setting some arbitrarily high bar for myself.
