任天堂社长古川俊太郎宣布 Switch 二代将在本财年内公布。而任天堂的财年于 2025 年 3 月截至。任天堂表示 6 月举行的 Nintendo Direct 直面会不会披露 Switch 下一代相关的信息，而是专注于介绍下半年将发布的游戏软件。根据任天堂公布的信息，Switch 一代至今的销量达到了 1.41 亿台，在任天堂游戏机史上仅次于掌机 NS 的 1.54 亿台。Switch 的游戏软件共售出 12.35 亿份拷贝，其中《Mario Kart 8 Deluxe》6197 万，《Animal Crossing: New Horizons》4536 万，《Super Smash Bros. Ultimate》3422 万，《The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild》3185 万，《Super Mario Odyssey》2796 万，《Pokémon Sword and Shield》2627 万，等等。
