Global pharmaceutical corporation Cencora reported on Tuesday that it recently discovered that intruders had stolen data from its networks.

The Fortune 500 company said in a regulatory filing that data from IT systems “had been exfiltrated” in an incident that came to light on February 21.

“Upon initial detection of the unauthorized activity, the Company immediately took containment steps and commenced an investigation with the assistance of law enforcement, cybersecurity experts and external counsel,” Cencora said in an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The event “has not had a material impact on the Company’s operations,” Cencora said.

Formerly known as AmerisourceBergen, the Pennsylvania-based corporation has 46,000 employees and reported revenue of $262.2 billion for fiscal 2023.

The regulatory filing did not specify the nature of the intrusion.

Several pharmaceutical companies have been hit by cybercriminals in recent months — an attack announced by Change Healthcare last week has resulted in disruptions for pharmacies nationwide.

Last year, Japanese pharmaceutical giant Eisai said some of its servers were encrypted by a ransomware group, and India’s Sun Pharmaceuticals stole company data and personal information.
