Introduction:- The purpose of this blog is to understand the concept of cross line put away which helps to search suitable bin in SAP WM during put away. I would request you to go through it and wait your valuable feedback which will enhance it.
Use – A sort variable helps the system to search for suitable storage bins. It helps system for sorting empty bins. The system automatically sets a variable in the field on the basis of a user defined table entry. The sort field consists of six character of storage bin coordination structure.
Example- The warehouse is not filled by aisle by aisle, but evenly from front to back.
Prerequisites –
Procedure – Assign figure in the system from 1 to 6 to this fields based on the position in the storage bin coordinate structure for storage bins in the storage type that you want to be filled. If you want to change the sort sequence after the storage bins have been created. Enter the sort sequence in the fields.
Example 1 – When you define a sort variable, empty storage bins are sorted differently. For example, you transfer goods first to stack 01, level 01 in row 01, then to stack 01, level 01 in row 02, then to stack 01, level 01 in row 03, and so on. In this case, you define the sort variable as follows, where R is the row, S is the stack and L is the level:
Storage bin: RR SS – LL
Variable: SS – LL
With this structure, the system fills the bins in the warehouse on a stack-by-stack basis for each row. When the system selects bins for stock received in the warehouse, the first stack in each row is filled, then the second stack in each row, then the third stack, and so on.
Example 2 – For coordinate structure R R – S S – L L , if you enter 1 2 3 4 5 into the sort variable fields for positions 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the coordinate structure (that is for S S – L L), the first stack in each row of the warehouse will be filled first, the second stack will be filled next, and so on.
For this example, the entries in the configuration table will appear as follows:
Position: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Variable: 1 2 3 4 5
Structure: R R – S S – L L
