The ESG expectations are continually growing. To achieve Green Ledger one important thing is to make sure the transactional carbon accounting is available. So that ERP data need to be sent from ERP system, e.g. SAP S/4HANA Cloud, to SFM (Sustainability Footprint Management) for footprint calculation. In the same time, sent material level carbon footprints from SFM to S4 to show the insights in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
In order to do this, here we need to setup the connection in SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SFM in SAP BTP Cockpit.
1 In SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Make sure you have scope item 5IM in the scope, or you will not be able to see corresponding communication arrangements:
SAP_COM_0664 Sustainability – Product Footprint Management Integration
SAP_COM_0531 SAP Data Hub – ABAP CDS OData Integration
2 Follow the 5IM setup guide to config the system.
2.1 Create a technical communication user. The business role must contain the business catalog SAP_CORE_BC_COM (Communication Management),
User Creation
2.2
Create the Communication System. Maintain the user you’ve created.
Communication System Creation
You can set the host as Dummy here.
2.3
Create the Communication Arrangement for both 0531 and 0664.
3 Setting Up the Destination in BTP.
Make sure you set the following name, any other name will not work.
SAP BTP Cockpit
Maintain the user you’ve created and URL of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system.
Destinations
After all the work. The connection is setup. In SFM, try to import some master data from SAP S/4HANA Cloud, see if it works.

Next, we will start to manage the footprint. Stay tuned for further blog posts of the use cases.
