I am going to introduce how to set up ” Rearrangement.”

Less information around on Rearrangement. But Rearrangement could be a strong tool to optimize your warehouse maybe after slotting or ABC analysis.

– Overview of rearrangement and how it works

– Step by step

– Please check the links for more information.

You can use rearrangement to optimize the arrangement of your products in the warehouse by moving stock such as fast-moving items to the relevant optimal storage bin.

The system compares the current storage type, storage section, and storage bin type with the optimal parameters in Warehouse Product Master. When doing this, it analyzes how well suited the current parameters (storage type, storage section, and storage bin type) are to the product. If they are not optimal, the system proposes an optimum storage bin.

When searching for an optimum destination storage bin (destination storage bin determination), the system uses search sequences for storage types, storage sections, and storage bin types.

Example )

Requirement: Want to change the current storage section to YS01 to a new storage section YS02.

You can change the values in warehouse product master. (EX: Storage section indicator to YS02 from YS01. – maybe manually or through slotting or ABC Analysis)

Then when you execute “Rearrangement”. The warehouse orders and warehouse tasks are created to move your stock to a optimum storage bin. (Storage section YS01 to YS02).

2-1. Customizing steps

2-1-1. Create document type for Rearrangement.

PATH: SPRO -> IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM -> Internal Warehouse Processes -> Delivery Processing -> Stock Transfers -> Define Document Types for the Stock Transfer Process

2-1-2.  Create item type for Rearrangement.

PATH: SPRO -> IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM -> Internal Warehouse Processes -> Delivery Processing -> Stock Transfers -> Define Item Types for the Stock Transfer Process

2-1-3.  Define allowed item type for Rearrangement.

PATH: SPRO -> IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM -> Internal Warehouse Processes -> Delivery Processing -> Stock Transfers -> Define allowed Item Types in Stock Transfer Process

2-1-4.  Define item type determination for Rearrangement.

PATH: SPRO -> IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM -> Internal Warehouse Processes -> Delivery Processing -> Stock Transfers -> Define item type Determination for the Stock Transfer Process

2-1-5.  Create “Warehouse Process Type” for Rearrangement.

PATH: SPRO -> IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM -> Cross Process Setting -> Warehouse Task -> Define Warehouse Process Type

2-1-6.  Specify Default Warehouse Process Type for Rearrangement.

PATH: SPRO ->IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM ->  Internal Warehouse Processes-> Warehouse Optimization -> Specify Default Warehouse Process Type for Rearrangement

2-1-7.  Define Storage Type Search Sequence for Putaway (Rearrangement)

Not mandatory to create one dedicated for Rearrangement.

PATH: SPRO ->IMG ->SCM EWM -> EWM -> Goods Receipt Process -> Strategies->Storage Type Sequences -> Define Storage Type Search Sequence for Putaway

2-1-8.  Assign Storage Types to Storage Type Search Sequence

Not mandatory to create one dedicated for Rearrangement.

PATH: SPRO ->IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM ->  Goods Receipt Process -> Strategies > Storage Type Sequences -> Assign Storage Types to Storage Type Search Sequence

2-1-9.  Define Putaway Control Indicator

Not mandatory to create a new PACI for Rearrangement.

Important!!!

Must assign a storage sequence search to the PACI. in PATH: SPRO -> IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM ->  Goods Receipt Process -> Strategies > Storage Type Sequences -> Define Putaway Control Indicator

For Rearrangement the storage type search sequence will be taken from above.

You could use the same PACI for regular putaway. For Regular putaway the storage type search sequence will be taken from  PATH: SPRO -> IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM ->  Goods Receipt Process -> Strategies > Storage Type Sequences -> Specify Storage type Search sequence for putway, even if you maintain the Storage type search sequence in Define Putaway Control Indicator.

2-1-10.  Create Storage Section Indicator.

This should be done before slotting or ABC Analysis. (But added this step to make it easier to understand.)

PATH: SPRO ->IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM ->  Goods Receipt Process -> Stratagies -> Storage Section Search-> Create Storage Section Indicators

2-1-11.  Maintain Storage Section Search Sequence.

PATH: SPRO ->IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM -> Goods Receipt Process -> Strategies -> Storage Section Search -> Maintain Storage Section Search Sequence

2-1-12.  Define storage bin types.

This should be done before slotting or ABC Analysis. (But added this step to make it easier to understand)

PATH: SPRO ->IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM ->  Goods Receipt Process -> Strategies -> Storage Bin Determination-> Define Storage Bin Types

2-1-13.  Create Alternative Storage Bin Type Sequence.

PATH: SPRO ->IMG -> SCM EWM -> EWM -> Goods Receipt Process -> Strategies -> Storage Bin Determination-> Alternative Storage Bin Type Sequence

2-1-14.  Set the “PACI” in warehouse product master.

T-Code : /SCWM/MAT1

The PACI was created at step 2-1-9. but I suggest that you don’t use a dedicated PACI for rearrangement. Because in operation it should be difficult to change PACI before and after rearrangement.

I will exclude the settings for Warehouse Order from this blog. But please be reminded that warehouse order settings like “Define Creation rules for warehouse order”, “Define search sequence of warehouse order creation rules” are necessary to execute Rearrangement.

2-2. Test

2-2-1.  Execute ABC analysis.

T-Code: /SCWM/ABC – Perform ABC Analysis

Execute ABC Analysis with below Storage section fields.

After you execute, Get the result of ABC Analysis

You can see that current storage section indicator was YS01 and the new suggested storage section indicator is YS02.

2-2-2.   Save and update the result.

2-2-3 Check the result in Warehouse product master.

T-Code: /SCWM/MAT1 – Warehouse Product master

You can see the Storage section indicator was changed/updated in to “YS02”.

2-2-4.  Execute rearrangement with product.

T-Code: /SCWM/REAR – Rearrangement

Find your product.

You get the result for Optimum section and Bin type. This time we only updated ” Storage section indicator” in warehouse product master so Bin type is “????”.

2-2-5.  Create Warehouse task, Warehouse order.

Select the row and “Create + Save”.

Then on the lower part of the screen Warehouse order, Warehouse task is created.

The warehouse task is created with Source ( current bin ) to  Destination ( optimum bin)

2-2-4.  Confirm the created Warehouse Order, Warehouse task.

Additional information:

If you have a requirement to change parameters (Storage section indicator or Storage bin type ) per storage type to determine optimum storage bin. You can realize the requirement by setting Storage section indicator or/and storge bin type in Storage type data tab in Warehouse Product master.

Don’t forget to maintain the PACI in Whse Data tab.

T-Code: /SCWM/MAT1 – Warehouse Product master -ST. Type Data
