How to Check PPF (Output Management) technically In Transportation Management

PPF called post processing framework is a solution for many capabilities uses in different modules and cross solutions in SAP we can compare with the solution from S/4CORE in transaction NACE for the output management across SD/MM/LE…etc.

in the past weeks I see high volume of doubts regarding this topic and will try to help with this blog.

In SAP TM the PPF Is used in the Freight Documents to print, fax, and email documents such as order, delivery, and billing information. You can also execute application-to-application or business-to-business actions.

As functional consultant one point sometimes is to understand each error and what are these values why the Start condition and Schedule condition has not meet.

For this will try to explain here how to check it! 😊

When you execute a Action or an action is defined to be execute in background will try to check once you save the Freight Document if each of these Action has a parameters which validate example if the FO Life cycle are in “Set in Execution” or “Carrier Assigned”.Etc.…

If you ‘re functional consultant and have doubt what is the criteria for each Action, go to step 4 and get the agent class method you have assigned to your Business Object:

Customizing Point:

Cross-Application Components – Processes and Tools for Enterprise Applications – Reusable Objects and Functions for BOPF Environment – PPF Adapter for Output Management – Maintain Output Management Adapter Settings

Go to transaction SE24 and open the method and search for the technical name of the action you needed.

This example is to Send FO to EWM:

Then you can see where that Action is mapped in ABAP and check the code in Start condition and others (Knowledge to understand/read a code is need.)

In the same Class/method CAN_SCHEDULE_ACTION_BY_ABAP for Schedule Condition in B2B Output you can see the other Action.
